Mobile Apps now receive calls, Easier AvoAI setup

January 15, 2024

Updates

Mobile call experience

The mobile phone call experience has received some upgrades. Upgrade or download the latest version on the Play Store for Android or App Store for iOS.

Fix for “muted calls”

  • Outbound calls should no longer “go mute” due to microphone permissions on newer versions of Android or iOS.
  • Due to changes in mobile OS, phone calls made via Avochato will now appear in your list of phone call logs on your Phone app.

New: Accept inbound calls via incoming call push notification

You can now receive calls on-the-go by accepting an incoming call push notification directly on your mobile device - no “forward number” required.

How it works: When an inbound call prompts an "Accept" pop-up on www.avochato.com, a notification will also be sent to your phone utilizing your device’s native call dialer. Tap "Accept" to connect directly to the call through the Avochato app on your phone (WiFi or mobile data connection required).

Previously, accepting in-browser calls required keeping tabs open on your desktop (which remains necessary when using the desktop website). Additionally, there was no way to answer inbound calls on your mobile device unless the Avochato app was actively open—and on iOS, in-browser calling wasn’t supported at all.

Now, with the Avochato app installed, you can receive calls anytime, anywhere, directly on your mobile device.

Currently, Avochato will only prompt you to accept inbound calls that are in the most recent inbox you’ve viewed.

The same routing logic that determines if you are eligible to accept an incoming call is based on your inbox’s Call Forwarding settings - for example, if an inbound call is blocked by Robocall Protection, you won’t receive a notification to accept the call. The same goes for all other conditional settings under “Call Forwarding” that would influence whether or not you should be notified about the inbound call and be eligible to accept it.

Inboxes that disable in-browser calling will not trigger an incoming call push notification for any inbound calls. However, you can still receive a simple push notification even if you have in-browser calling OFF by enabling “Send a push whenever inbound activity occurs in conversations assigned to me” under your profile settings.

Simple push notification, clicking this will take you to the conversation thread with the contact who called. Note that clicking this doesn’t answer the call.

AvoAI

As we continue rolling out our suite of AI-assisted features, we’ve made some changes to make it simpler to get started:

  • An active AvoBot is no longer required to use AgentAssist. This change is intended to make it easier to take advantage of our easy-to-use inbox automation features without setting up a bot user.
    • This applies to all AgentAssist features, including nightly summarization and sentiment analysis.

Note that without an AvoBot, our “Suggest responses” feature will use a default system prompt if no AvoBot prompts have been configured yet in your inbox. Configure an AvoBot to have the AvoBot’s prompts and personality influence the suggested messages.

  • Owners who create new Avochato organizations during the sign-up flow will now automatically have AvoAI permissions enabled for them.
  • All new users invited as “Managers” (or higher) will have their permissions to view and edit AvoAI settings turned on by default. Users can edit their AvoAI permissions under the /profile page or in the “Organization Management” dashboard.

Bug Fixes

  • Reordered a couple wide inbox columns and updated their alignment

Avochato for Slack

  • Fixed an issue sending Slack thread notifications about conversations that don’t have an owner

Website Widgets

  • Fixed a cosmetic issue where the widget button was sometimes visually clipped
